The company was founded by Ludwig Peil in 1967 in the city of Asslar under the name of “Ludwig Peil-Optische Werkstaetten”.
Since 1986 the company, now in its second generation, is under the guidance of Peter and Beate Peil as managing directors, and the name of the company was changed to “Peil Optik GmbH”. It now is located in the health resort Braunfels, north of the Taunus, close to the “Optic-City” of Wetzlar.
With more than 40 years in the business we have been to achieve an unique level of experience as well as knowledge in the production of micro-optics of the highest quality and precision. The company started off with manufacturing of lenses for medical appliances, such as endoscopes. Currently we produce optical components according to our customer’s requirements, including:
- Spherical lenses of all forms (different types for a wide range of applications)
- Achromats
- Triplets
These components are being applied in different markets, such as:

- Microscopy
